KABUL: Tens of thousands of citizens have demonstrated in protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision for the complete occupation of the Gaza Strip, The Times of Israel reported early today.
Protesters are calling for the Netanyahu government to agree to an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages before any renewed military operations in the area.
Families of the hostages have stated that the decision for a complete occupation of Gaza could be a death sentence for their loved ones held by Hamas.
They have demanded a nationwide strike in response to the government’s decision led by Netanyahu.
In a statement of the families of the hostages, they urged: “Reach a comprehensive agreement for the release of the hostages, stop the war, and bring our loved ones home — their time is running out.”
Reports indicate that the Israeli military has also opposed the government’s recent decision to completely occupy Gaza, labeling it a dangerous action that jeopardizes the lives of hostages and Israeli soldiers..
Meanwhile, over ten Western and Eastern countries have expressed their opposition to Netanyahu’s government decision.
