KABUL: Russian state media citing military experts reported that Ukraine has lost approximately 3,980 soldiers in the past week during its ongoing conflict with Russia.
According to the Russian state-run TASS news agency today, a military expert Andrei Marochko, stated that during Russian attacks along the frontline near the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic, Ukrainian military formations in the northern, southern, and western regions have suffered these casualties among their “military personnel, fighters, and mercenaries.”
Marochko noted that the heaviest losses for Ukraine occurred in the area of responsibility of the Western Combat Group, particularly in the Kupiansk and Svatove-Kreminna sections of the conflict line in the Luhansk People’s Republic.
Based on data from the Russian Ministry of Defense, he mentioned that over the past week, four tanks, 74 field artillery pieces, 54 electronic warfare devices, and 53 ammunition and logistical supply depots belonging to Ukrainian forces have also been destroyed in Russian attacks.
He added that the situation along the frontline has been highly tense in the past week due to Ukraine’s counteroffensives.
So far, the Ukrainian government and military sectors have not commented on these claims made by Russian state media.
This information comes as leaders from the U.S., Russia, and possibly Ukraine are expected to meet soon to discuss ending the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
