KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, stated that Afghanistan has lagged in growth due to economic occupation and reliance on conditional aid from other countries.
He made the remarks today during the inauguration of the Pashdan Dam in Herat, according to a statement from his office.
Baradar emphasized that the Islamic Emirate has decided to genuinely strengthen the country’s economy and make it independent from external dependencies.
He noted that the IEA supports national and regional projects aimed at improving the economy.
This year marks the fourth anniversary of the Islamic Emirate’s return to power, during which significant political and economic achievements have been made in the country.
He added that the IEA intends to utilize all of its natural resources responsibly and has no intention of infringing on the rights of others.
The goal is to manage water resources effectively, which he views as essential for reducing poverty, unemployment, and migration.
The Deputy Prime Minister referred to the Pashdan Dam as a vital project for Herat, stating that its operation will help mitigate the impacts of drought and alleviate problems faced by farmers.
Pashdan Dam was an incompleted project from the previous administration, with remaining work initiated last year and completed in a short time.
