KABUL: The Police personnel of Paktia province have successfully thwarted the smuggling of 17 various weapons to Pakistan.
The Paktia Provincial Police Command said in a statement today, that the weapons were seized as a result of intelligence operations conducted in the Dand Patan district of the province.
It was reported that the firearms were intended to be smuggled into Pakistan by traffickers.
The statement noted that the traffickers managed to escape, but efforts to apprehend them are ongoing.
No details were provided regarding the types of weapons seized.
Security and defense forces are maintaining thorough and continuous surveillance over border areas and along the Durand Line.
