KABUL: The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, said in a statement today that currently, 60% of Afghanistan’s flour needs are met through domestic production.
According to the statement, there are 200 flour production factories operating in the country, alongside local mills, contributing to Afghanistan’s 60% self-sufficiency in this sector.
Afghanistan requires 6 million tons of flour annually, with 3.5 million tons currently produced domestically. Of this 3.5 million tons, 1 million tons are produced by the 200 factories, while 2.5 million tons come from local mills.
The flour production factories have been established with an investment of $150 million, providing jobs for 2,500 individuals.
Additionally, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock recently stated that based on their plans, Afghanistan aims to achieve self-sufficiency in wheat production within the next five years.
