KABUL: Senior officials of the Islamic Resistance Movement of Hamas have confirmed that the movement has agreed to a new ceasefire plan for the Gaza Strip.
A senior Hamas official stated in an interview with the BBC today that the new proposal consists of two phases and was presented by Egyptian and Qatari mediators to a high-level Hamas delegation in Cairo, Egypt.
It has been noted that the plan was initially introduced by Steve Witteck, a special representative of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Details of the new ceasefire plan that Hamas has agreed to have not yet been released.
Hamas’s acceptance of this proposal comes amid unprecedented protests involving hundreds of thousands in Israel.
The demonstrators are calling for an end to the killing of civilians in Gaza and the release of Israeli captives.
