KABUL: As a result of a traffic accident in Guzra district of Herat province on Tuesday evening 50 individuals lost their lives and several others were injured
The Herat police command said that the accident occurred when a 580-type passenger vehicle, carrying Afghan returnees from Iran, collided with a Mazda-type cargo truck, and according to some reports 74 people lost their lives and several others were injured.
The victims are said to be migrants who were traveling from Herat to Kabul after being expelled from Iran.
Police said that investigations are underway to find the cause of the deadly incident.
Previously, a similar incident involving a bus carrying families of returning migrants from Iran on the Herat-Kabul highway resulted in six deaths and injuries to over 30 others.
