MoU signed for construction of 400-bed hospital between Ministry of Public Health and Qatar

KABUL: Officials of the Ministry of Public Health and the Qatari Ambassador to Kabul have signed an agreement for the construction of a modern 400-bed hospital today.

According to Radio Omid correspondent, the hospital, which will be funded by a Qatari charitable organization, is set to be built in Kandahar province.

In a ceremony held on this occasion was attended by Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, Acting Minister of Public Health, and Dr. Mirdef bin Ali Al-Qashouti Qatari Ambassador.

Minister Jalali expressed his gratitude for Qatar’s initiative, stating that the hospital will significantly address the healthcare needs of residents in the southern provinces of Afghanistan.

The Qatari Ambassador noted that while the hospital will be constructed in the center of Kandahar province, residents of other southern provinces will also benefit from its services.

According to officials from the Ministry of Public Health, the construction of the hospital is expected to be completed within two years and six months.

Details regarding the cost of the hospital’s construction have not yet been disclosed.

Qatar is recognized as a friendly and cooperative country with Afghanistan, maintaining extensive political, economic, commercial, and humanitarian relations with Kabul over the past four years.
