KABUL: Sebastian Gorka, former Deputy Assistant to Donald Trump, recently stated that Afghanistan has been a “moderate partner” in counter-terrorism.
Gorka made the remarks during a session titled “The Strategic Outlook of Trump’s New Counterterrorism Strategy.” He acknowledged that while it may sound surprising, Afghanistan has cooperated moderately in counterterrorism efforts.
The comments were made during a panel discussion hosted by the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., he also mentioned that there are promising commitments regarding Afghanistan, although he refrained from discussing specifics at this time.
This is while, Afghan officials have consistently emphasized that no individual or group will be allowed to threaten other countries from Afghan soil.
