KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated that Washington may impose broad sanctions or significant tariffs on Russia, or potentially both.
According to The Guardian, Trump made the remarks during a conversation with reporters in response to a lack of progress in achieving a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
He said, “I will decide what to do, and this will be a very important decision—whether to have broad sanctions, significant tariffs, or do nothing and say this war is your own problem.”
Trump also expressed dissatisfaction regarding Russia’s attack on an American factory in Ukraine. His comments about potential sanctions come as his efforts to arrange a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine appear to have stalled.
These diplomatic efforts were initiated following a meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska last week.
