Afghan diplomatic delegation visits Afghan prisoners in Belarus

KABUL: The Embassy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Russia said in a statement on Saturday night, that a delegation from the embassy visited Belarus to assess the situation of Afghan prisoners in the country’s jails.

The delegation was led by Hafiz Abdullah Yasir, an advisor at the Afghan embassy in Moscow visited several prisons in Belarus housing Afghan citizens and emphasized the need to address their issues and facilitate their return.

According to the statement, during the visit, meetings were held with several Belarusian officials to address the challenges faced by detained citizens, focusing on discussions about their transfer back to Afghanistan.

Further details regarding the discussions between the delegation and Belarusian officials were not provided in the statement.

The diplomatic efforts of the Afghan government to repatriate imprisoned citizens from various countries have begun.
