KABUL: A seven-member armed group of foreign nationals has been neutralized in a confrontation with Iranian military forces.
On Saturday night, the ISNA news agency reported that this group, comprised of non-Iranian citizens, intended to attack “one of the vital centers” in Sistan and Baluchestan province in eastern Iran.
They were neutralized before carrying out the attack, resulting in the deaths of five members and the arrest of two others.
The media office of the Intelligence Directorate of Sistan and Baluchestan stated that the attackers were equipped with RPG-7 rocket launchers, M4 and M16 rifles, hand grenades, vehicles, and motorcycles.
It was also reported that this group had received training from the Israeli regime, although no details regarding the identities of the armed individuals were provided.
The Iranian media noted that three military personnel, including members of the intelligence and police forces, were injured in the confrontation.
This incident comes shortly after an attack on a police vehicle in which five police officers were killed.
