KABUL: The Economic Commission of the Islamic Emirate was held with the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, on the chair, approved the draft of the National Minerals Policy following a comprehensive evaluation.
According to a statement from the deputy PM Office today, the objectives of the National Minerals Policy include, standardized exploration, development, and utilization of mines, attraction of domestic and foreign investments, importing new mining technologies and equipment, ensuring environmental protection and the health and safety of miners, facilitating the processing of mineral resources within the country, training and capacity building of specialized technical human resources in the mining sector.
The statement also mentioned that the meeting discussed the project to extend the 500-kilovolt transmission line from Sheberghan to Dasht-e Alwan.
Additionally, the Deputy PM noted that committees tasked with assessing the initial studies for the second phase of the Kamal Khan Dam (Qala-e Afzal Dam) and identifying needs in the country’s ports also presented their reports.
The decisions made in this meeting have been submitted to the leadership office of the Islamic Emirate.
