KABUL: Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs has announced the expulsion of Ahmad Sadqi, the Iranian ambassador to the country.
French news agency AFP reported on Tuesday morning that several international media outlets, including The Guardian, cited Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, stating that the Iranian ambassador was expelled following evidence of Tehran’s involvement in at least two attacks on the Jewish community in Australia.
According to reports, Albanese described these actions as “extraordinary and dangerous” after confirmation from Australian intelligence agencies regarding Iran’s role in the attacks.
The Prime Minister recently referenced “credible information” from the country’s security and intelligence organization, indicating that Iran was behind the attack on the Adas Israel synagogue in Melbourne and the Louis Continental Kitchen.
He stated, “These efforts aimed to undermine social cohesion and create divisions within our community. It is completely unacceptable, and the Australian government will take decisive and serious actions in response.”
Albanese emphasized that Australian intelligence agencies have warned that Iran may carry out further attacks against the Jewish community in Australia.
As of now, the Iranian government has not responded to these allegations or the expulsion of its ambassador.
