China agrees to expand economic corridor through Afghanistan, says Ishaq Dar

KABUL: Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, has announced that China has agreed to expand the economic corridor between Islamabad and Beijing by passing through Afghanistan.

The National Pakistan media reported, that Dar made the remarks during a press conference on recent diplomatic developments in the country today.

“The agreement regarding the economic corridor traversing Afghanistan was discussed in a recent meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan held on 20 August in Kabul,” he said, adding that the trilateral discussions were “beneficial and strategic,” focusing on topics such as “refugees, security along the Durand Line, trade, and infrastructure.”

According to him, the meeting also reached an agreement on establishing a railway connection between Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that Kabul hosted the foreign ministers of China and Pakistan just ten days ago.
