First shipment of 100 tons of dried fruits exported from Kandahar to India

KABUL: For the first time, 100 tons of dried fruits worth $700,000 have been exported from Kandahar to India, according to Mohammad Hanif Haqmal, spokesperson for the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Kandahar.

Haqmal stated that the dried fruits are being transported to India via Iran by a private trader, particularly due to the closure of the Wagah border for trade amid deteriorating political relations between India and Pakistan.

Kandahar dried fruits are well-known in international markets for their exceptional quality and sweetness, making them one of the country’s key export products.

Previously, private traders had also exported fresh fruits alongside dried ones to India.
