KABUL: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a telephone conversation with Maryam bint Ali Nasser Al-Misnad, Qatar’s State Minister for International Cooperation.
According to Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, head of the ministry’s press and public relations, the Qatari minister expressed her condolences regarding the recent earthquake in Kunar and surrounding provinces and assured that assistance would be provided.
Mawlavi Muttaqi thanked the Qatari government for its sympathy and commitment to aid, and provided detailed information about the incident and the Afghan government’s efforts in response.
This comes after Qatar previously issued a statement expressing concern over the damage caused by the earthquake in the eastern provinces and reaffirming its commitment to provide assistance.
