KABUL: Annah Gulidi Spearov, the Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan, has visited Kabul and met with Abdul Latif Mansoor, the Minister of Water and Energy of Afghanistan, the ministry said in a statement today.
According to the statement, the Turkmen energy minister stated that the preliminary work on the TAPI project (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan electricity transmission) has made satisfactory progress.
Mr. Spearov emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
The two sides discussed enhancing cooperation, particularly in the areas of transmitting 1,000 megawatts of electricity from Turkmenistan to Kabul, accelerating the implementation of the TAPI 500 electricity transmission project, and joint efforts in executing the larger TAPI project.
Meanwhile, the Afghan Minister of Water and Energy acknowledged the commitment and readiness of the Afghan government to establish the necessary coordination and cooperation for the implementation of these economic projects with Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan, located in Central Asia and a northern neighbor of Afghanistan, has a longstanding relationship with the country and is currently implementing the significant regional TAPI project.
