MoU worth $133 million signed  between Kazakhstan National Company and Afghan Traders

KABUL: In a joint meeting hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Kabul, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth $133 million have been signed between Kazakhstan’s national food company and the private sector in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce said in a statement on Wednesday evening that based on the MoU 600,000 tons of essential food items, including flour, wheat, and oilseeds such as sunflower and soybean, will be purchased from Kazakhstan and transported to Afghanistan.

The statement noted that these contracts will not only play a significant role in meeting the domestic market’s needs in Afghanistan but will also pave the way for further economic cooperation and increased trade between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.

Nooruddin Azizi, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, stated at the meeting that efforts are underway in Afghanistan to elevate trade levels with Kazakhstan to $3 billion.

He emphasized that both Afghanistan and Kazakhstan possess significant economic and complementary capacities in trade.

The large trade meeting was held to strengthen and expand economic cooperation between Afghanistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan, here in Kabul.
