Standard cold storage facility worth 33 million Afghanis constructed in Jawzjan

KABUL: The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock has announced the completion of a modern cold storage facility valued at 33 million Afghani in Jawzjan province.

In a statement on Thursday the ministry reported that the cold storage has a capacity of 100 metric tons and is intended for the preservation of fruits in the “At-Chapar” village of Sheberghan, the provincial capital.

According to the statement, the facility is equipped with modern machinery and a solar power system.

Qari Abdul Ghani Sharifi, an official of the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock, stated that the cold storage will soon be inaugurated in the presence of government officials.

Sharifi emphasized that the establishment of this center will alleviate challenges faced by farmers and traders in storing fresh fruits, enabling them to sell their products at reasonable prices throughout the year.

This development underscores the critical need for modern cold storage facilities to preserve agricultural products in the country.
