KABUL: The UK Foreign Office has announced an additional £3 million in humanitarian assistance for earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan.
In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the Foreign Office detailed that the funds will be used to provide essential services, including healthcare, safe drinking water, and emergency shelter to communities affected by the earthquake.
The aid will be distributed through the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Red Cross, the Afghan Aid organization, and War Child.
The statement emphasized the necessity for collective efforts to address the needs of people made vulnerable by this disaster, especially with winter approaching.
This announcement comes in the wake of a recent visit by the head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to earthquake-affected areas in Kunar province, where he stressed the importance of vital assistance to earthquake victims before the onset of winter.
