Iran’s representative at UN: No option but to engage with IEA

KABUL: Saeed Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, stated that the international community has no option but to engage with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

He made the remarks during a UN Security Council meeting held on Afghanistan on Wednesday night.

He emphasized that the Islamic Emirate is an undeniable reality in Afghanistan, and the world must prioritize constructive engagement with it.

In his statement, he also asserted that the future of Afghanistan should be determined by the Afghan people themselves and that imposing “external models” on the country is ineffective.

The senior Iranian diplomat further mentioned that humanitarian aid to the Afghan people should not be politicized and that sanctions should not hinder the country’s economic growth and stability.

The UN Security Council meeting focused on the situation in Afghanistan and its ongoing challenges.
