Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid: Using force not solution to Afghanistan-Pakistan challenges

KABUL: Pakistani media has reported that Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, stated that the use of force is not the solution to the challenges hindering relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, according to The Express Tribune, a prominent Pakistani newspaper.

In an interview with the newspaper in Kandahar, the spokesperson emphasized that only sustained negotiations through official channels, such as the Joint Coordination Committee, can resolve misunderstandings.

Mujahid reiterated the Afghan government’s commitment to peaceful relations between Kabul and Islamabad.

He mentioned: “ Our leader, Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzada, emphasizes a policy of ‘not harming neighbors.’ We reject hostility and prioritizes cooperation.”

He also referred to Kabul’s efforts to prevent damage to Afghanistan-Pakistan relations, noting that media outlets have been instructed to avoid inviting individuals who undermine bilateral ties.

Mujahid’s statements regarding the ineffectiveness of force in addressing challenges between Afghanistan and Pakistan come in the wake of recent comments by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is in prison alleged that the head of the Pakistani military is attempting to provoke conflict between Islamabad and Kabul.
