True journalism backbone of national unity and healthy society, official

KABUL: A national gathering of journalists under the theme “True Journalism, Informed Public, and Healthy Society” was held in Kabul, hosted by the Ministry of Information and Culture and financially supported by the Voice of Afghanistan mechanism.

Speaking in the gathering, Mawlavi Safiullah Raed, the head of media monitoring and publications at the ministry, emphasized that journalism is not merely about disseminating news but is a vital tool for presenting truths and fostering national unity and a healthy society.

He stated, “Journalism is synonymous with national unity; media that provides accurate, objective, and truthful information holds special value and earns the respect of society.”

He referred to journalism as a mission, highlighting that this mission requires journalists to commit to truth-telling, national interests, and social stability.

The head of media monitoring stressed that nurturing true journalism is a shared responsibility.

He noted that the media can gain the trust of the public by creating an atmosphere of brotherhood, maintaining transparency in sources, and prioritizing news related to progress.
