Thousands of Afghans returned home through various channels

KABUL: The Office of the High Commission for Addressing Refugee Issues, said in a statement that thousands of Afghan refugees have been forcibly returned to the country from various routes and have accessed essential assistance.

According to the statement, a total of 1,240 families, comprising 7,117 individuals, were registered and biometrically processed as they returned through various points, including Islam Qala in Herat, the Silk Road in Nimroz, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Torkham in Nangarhar, and central Kabul, just in one day [Friday].

Additionally, transport and logistics support were provided to 1,284 families, ensuring their safe transfer to their designated provinces.

Financial assistance was also distributed to 1,446 families through the financial management committees.

The health, telecommunications, and public awareness committees have arranged for the distribution of basic necessities such as food, water, healthcare services, and telecommunications SIM cards for the returning refugees.

Notably, the latest report indicates that 996 SIM cards have also been distributed among the refugees.
