KABUL: The press office of the Helmand police command said in a statement today that more than 400 various types of weapons and military equipment have been discovered and confiscated in the center and some districts of the province, over the past five months.
According to the statement, the seized items include 188 pistols, 41 Kalashnikovs, 159 machine guns, 15 grenades, 1 100-piece weapon, 4 M4 rifles, 3 sniper rifles, 1 rocket launcher, 2 M16 rifles, 1 sniper, and thousands of rounds of ammunition for light and heavy weapons.
The statement also mentioned that 75 individuals have been arrested in connection with these weapons and military equipment, as they attempted to illegally transport the arms.
They have been referred to judicial authorities after the completion of their cases.
Officials from the Helmand Police Command emphasized that preventing the illegal carrying of weapons plays a crucial role in enhancing security.
They urged all national traders and influential figures to obtain a permit card (Daiak) from the Ministry of Interior for their weapons and to use them legally.
