KABUL: On the 24th anniversary of the NATO invasion of Afghanistan, officials from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have described this event as a “black day” in the nation’s history.
Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, in an audio message today called the invasion a “brutal assault” led by the U.S. that resulted in thousands of Afghans being martyred, wounded, imprisoned, and displaced.
He stated that after the invasion, U.S. “occupying” forces imposed their proxies on Afghanistan for two decades and eventually left the country upon realizing their “mistake.”
In his message, he praised the 20-year jihad of the Afghan people and assured that an Islamic system is currently in ruling across the country.
It is noteworthy that NATO forces invaded Afghanistan 24 years ago today.
