China’s Special Envoy in meeting with Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, emphasizes continued interaction and support for Kabul

KABUL: Yue Xiyong, China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, stated in a post on his X that he met with Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, on the sidelines of the “Moscow Format” meeting.

He expressed satisfaction with the meeting, noting that it yielded positive results and emphasized Beijing’s ongoing engagement and support for Kabul.

He stated, “I was pleased to meet with Mr. Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, who is participating in the Moscow Format for the first time.”

The Chinese diplomat also mentioned his discussions with his Pakistani, Russian, and Iranian counterparts regarding Afghanistan during the Moscow Format meeting.

According to Yue, these meetings have been very beneficial and forward-looking.

It is noteworthy that the seventh Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan took place two days ago in Russia.
