India sends additional aid to earthquake-affected Afghans

KABUL: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has announced that the country has sent fresh supplies of food and medical items to Afghan earthquake victims in the eastern provinces of Afghanistan.

Spokesperson Randeep Jaiswal stated that this aid was delivered to the Afghan side following a meeting between Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, and Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.

Previously, India had also provided various supplies to the earthquake-affected areas of Kunar and Nangarhar.

Approximately a month and a half ago, a devastating earthquake struck the eastern provinces of Afghanistan, particularly Kunar, resulting in nearly 2,500 fatalities and about 3,500 injuries.

Reports indicate that over 6,000 homes were destroyed due to the earthquake.

In the aftermath of this disaster, several countries and numerous humanitarian organizations, both domestically and internationally, provided emergency assistance and expressed solidarity with Afghanistan.
