FM Muttaqi invites India to invest in mining, agriculture, and sports sectors

KABUL: The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, during a press conference at New Delhi on Sunday, urged Indian authorities to invest in Afghanistan’s mining, agriculture, and sports sectors.
Minister Muttaqi emphasized that discussions were held with Indian officials regarding the Chabahar Port, although he did not provide further details about these talks.
The Afghan Foreign Minister also mentioned that his Indian counterpart informed him about an increase in flights between Kabul and New Delhi.
Furthermore, he indicated that agreements have been made regarding trade and economic cooperation between Afghan and Indian officials.
In his meetings in New Delhi, he called for the reopening of the Wagah crossing.
The Foreign Minister stressed that the Wagah crossing is the “fastest and easiest” route for trade between Afghanistan and India, and thus requested its reopening.
The Wagah crossing, a key point between India and Pakistan, was closed following the recent four-day conflict between the two countries.
