Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Iran express concern over growing tensions between Kabul and Islamabad

KABUL: Following severe clashes between Afghan and Pakistani forces along the Durand Line, the governments of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Iran have expressed their concerns.

The foreign ministries of these three countries in separate statements on Saturday night and Sunday, urged the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan to exercise restraint and resolve their differences through diplomacy and dialogue.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry stated that it urges both sides to prioritize dialogue, diplomacy, and restraint, working to manage their disputes in a way that prevents escalation and ensures regional security and stability.

Riyadh has also expressed its concern over the situation between Afghanistan and Pakistan, calling for peace, security, and stability between the peoples of both countries.

The spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry emphasized the necessity of mutual respect for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of both countries, calling for restraint and an immediate dialogue to reduce tensions and resolve disputes through diplomatic means.

It is worth noting that the Afghan Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday night that, in response to repeated violations of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and ongoing attacks by Pakistan, a coordinated and planned operation was carried out against Pakistani military posts along the Durand Line.
