KABUL: In the first regional response to the immediate ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Iranian officials have described the agreement as “useful and constructive.”
Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Iran’s special representative for Afghanistan, in a post on his X on Sunday said that the collective interests of all countries in the region lie in strengthening peace, stability, and security.
He wrote: “Establishing a ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan and agreeing to resolve disputes through dialogue and political solutions is a useful, constructive, and significant step.”
This senior Iranian diplomat, involved in Afghanistan-related matters, did not provide further details regarding his statements.
Previously, during a nearly week-long period of tension in relations between Kabul and Islamabad, senior Iranian officials had responded to these tensions three times, calling for restraint from both sides and urging the resolution of disputes through diplomatic means.
