Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid: U.S. representatives contacted us during war with Pakistan

KABUL: Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated that U.S. representatives had contacted them during the war with Pakistan.

In a video clip shared with the media, Mawlavi Mujahid stated that these communications pertained to a ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities.

He added, “There was no need for U.S. mediation, as the war did not prolong, and the roles of Qatar and several other countries came to the forefront, eliminating the necessity for mediation by major powers.”

This comes at a time when the U.S. has not had official diplomatic relations with Afghanistan since 2021; however, limited contacts for the continuation of relations between the Islamic Emirate and the U.S. are conducted periodically through Qatar.
