Afghanistan-China relations and Afghanistan-Pakistan tensions discussed

KABUL: Dr. Mohammad Naeem, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, met with Yue Xiaoyong, the Special Representative of China for Afghanistan.

In a statement released by the ministry, both parties discussed bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and the recent crisis between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Dr. Naeem referred to Afghanistan and China as two historical neighbors, emphasizing that both countries share common values.

While expressing gratitude for China’s support, Dr. Naeem underscored that the Islamic Emirate is committed to engaging with all countries based on mutual relations and will not allow anyone to use Afghan territory against another country.

Pointing to the recent conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Deputy Minister noted that, unfortunately, Pakistan has tested the patience of the Islamic Emirate over the past four years; however, the Islamic Emirate has consistently preferred dialogue and agreements as a means to resolve issues.

Yue Xiaoyong, the Special Representative of China, expressed hope for strengthening long-term, mutually respectful relations with Afghanistan and emphasized the importance of respecting Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and values.

He added that China aims to play a constructive role in resolving conflicts between Afghanistan and Pakistan and welcomed the mediation efforts of Qatar and Turkey in this regard.
