Britain welcomes ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan

KABUL: Richard Lindsay, the UK Special Representative for Afghanistan, during his visit to Kabul and his meeting with Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, the Minister of Refugees and Repatriations, stated that the UK welcomes the ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to a statement from the ministry, the UK Special Representative expressed hope that Kabul and Islamabad will work towards a permanent ceasefire.

He also praised the efforts of the Islamic Emirate in providing assistance to those in need in Afghanistan and emphasized that the UK has allocated £4 million for earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan, which will be distributed to the affected individuals through relevant UN agencies.

This senior British diplomatic official added that London will continue its support to the people of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Mawlavi Abdul Kabir mentioned that the Islamic Emirate has arranged temporary and permanent assistance for returnees using its available resources.

The Minister of Refugees described the construction of housing complexes for returning Afghan refugees as a fundamental need and emphasized the importance of cooperation from Britain and other international organizations in this regard.

It is noteworthy that reactions to the ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan are growing each day.
