KABUL: According to reports, the first day of discussions between the Afghan and Pakistani delegations in Istanbul, Turkey, concluded after 9 hours of negotiations.
The meeting took place on Saturday, behind closed doors and wrapped up later that night.
Published information indicates that the delegations from Afghanistan and Pakistan discussed the operational and monitoring mechanisms for implementing a permanent ceasefire between the two countries.
Details regarding the topics raised and the discussions between the Kabul and Islamabad delegations have not yet been disclosed.
The Afghan delegation was led by Haji Najib, the Deputy Minister of Interior, while specific information about the composition of the Pakistani delegation remains unclear.
The discussions between the two countries are expected to continue for two more days.
In this round of negotiations, technical teams are reviewing the details of the agreement reached last week, which was achieved with the presence of the defense ministers of Afghanistan and Pakistan in Doha, Qatar.
