Free trade zone to be established between Afghanistan and Turkistan of Kazakhstan

KABUL: Nuralkhan Kashirov, the Governor of Turkistan Province in Kazakhstan, announced during a meeting with Nooruddin Azizi, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, the establishment of a free trade zone in the province to enhance economic cooperation with Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce in a statement said that during the meeting, both sides emphasized the development of economic cooperation, expressing a desire to exchange potential lists of export items between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, as well as to continue joint meetings and communications to strengthen economic relations.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce appreciated the recent Afghan-Kazakh economic forum, which focused on trade and investment opportunities in Afghanistan, particularly in agriculture, construction, and mining.

The statement noted that the Minister provided information on the current economic situation in Afghanistan and the IEA’s economy-centered policy, assuring comprehensive support for domestic and foreign private sectors, as well as a commitment to overarching security and reduced bureaucratic hurdles.

He also invited the Kazakh official to visit Afghanistan to explore existing trade and investment opportunities and participate in future meetings, conferences, and investment opportunities in the country.

It is noteworthy that Nooruddin Azizi is currently in Kazakhstan with a delegation to advance the Afghan-Kazakh economic forum.
