Agreement reached on continued peace talks and future meetings mediated by Turkey and Qatar

KABUL: In an effort to establish peace between Afghanistan and Pakistan, negotiations mediated by Turkey and Qatar resulted in an agreement during several days of discussions in Istanbul.

According to a statement from Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all parties have agreed to maintain the ceasefire and have pledged to work towards preventing violence and preserving a peaceful atmosphere.

The statement further indicated that a high-level meeting will be held in Istanbul on November 6, 2025, to discuss the implementation of remaining issues and how to operationalize the agreement.

The joint statement also mentioned that a monitoring and verification mechanism will be established to oversee the implementation of peace decisions and ensure legal accountability for any violating parties.

As mediating countries, Turkey and Qatar praised the positive steps taken by both Afghanistan and Pakistan and emphasized their readiness to collaborate with both sides for lasting peace and stability.

It is noteworthy that these discussions took place from October 25 to 30, 2025, focusing on practical aspects of sustaining the ceasefire.
