KABUL: Mawlavi Sardar Ahmad Shakib, the Afghan ambassador in Islamabad, while visiting Afghan refugees stranded at the Torkham border, assured them that their issues would be addressed.
According to a statement from the Afghan embassy in Pakistan on Saturday, during the visit, the ambassador stated that serious efforts would be made to resolve the problems faced by Afghan refugees.
He called on the Pakistani government to either halt the expulsion of Afghan migrants or keep the border crossings open, allowing those forcibly displaced from their homes in Pakistan to return to their country.
Notably, through the efforts of the Afghan embassy in Pakistan, the Torkham border was reopened yesterday exclusively for Afghan returnees.
