Death toll in Northern Afghanistan Earthquake rises to 20, more than 500 injured

KABUL: The spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health, Sharafat Zaman Amarkhail, in a statement said today that figures on the casualties from the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck several provinces in northern Afghanistan.
He noted that some of those with minor injuries have been transferred to private hospitals.
Amarkhil also emphasized that hospitals near the earthquake-affected areas have been instructed to remain on high alert.
Rescue and search operations are still ongoing in the impacted regions.
Earlier, the Ministry of Public Health had reported more than 20 fatalities and 320 injuries, but the latest figures show a significant increase in casualties.
