Necessary assistance will be provided to Earthquake victims in Northern Afghanistan, UN

KABUL: The United Nations has pledged to provide necessary aid to those affected by the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan.
In a statement posted on X today, the UN’s Afghanistan office responded to the disaster, confirming that its relief teams are currently on the ground in the affected areas, assessing damages and identifying needs.
The statement highlighted: “Immediate assistance will be delivered following the completion of damage and needs assessments.”
The United Nations reiterated its commitment to standing with the earthquake-affected communities.
According to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health, the earthquake, which had its epicenter in Khulm district of Samangan province, resulted in 2 fatalities and left 320 people injured.
This earthquake comes nearly two months after a devastating and deadly quake struck the eastern provinces of Afghanistan, causing significant destruction and loss of life.
