Washington reviews sale of 48 F-35 Fighter Jets to Saudi Arabia

KABUL: The U.S. government is currently reviewing a contract to sell 48 F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, Reuters reported exclusively on Tuesday night.

According to two sources familiar with the billion-dollar deal between Riyadh and Washington, the agreement has now passed a crucial stage within the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon).

The report states that the approval of this transaction would signify a significant shift in Washington’s policy—one that could alter the military balance in the Middle East and challenge America’s definition of maintaining “qualitative military superiority” for the Israeli occupation regime.

A government official and an informed U.S. source disclosed the review of this important contract ahead of the upcoming visit by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia to the White House.

Reports indicate that the Saudi Crown Prince is expected to visit the U.S. within the next ten days (by November 18).
