Eight countries including U.S. support UN Security Council resolution regarding Gaza

KABUL: The United States, along with Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, and Turkey, has expressed joint support for the review of a United Nations Security Council resolution concerning Gaza.

The U.S. Mission to the United Nations issued a statement on Friday evening, highlighting the unified stance of these countries.

The resolution affirms a 20-point peace plan for Gaza that was adopted on September 29 of this year in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The mentioned countries are calling for their swift approval by the UN Security Council.

In part of the statement, it reads: “As member states gathered during the high-level week to initiate this process, we issue this declaration; a process that offers a pathway to autonomy and the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

The eight Arab and Muslim countries, along with the U.S., emphasized that this plan is not only important for peace and stability between Palestine and the occupying Israeli regime but also for the entire region.

It remains to be seen when the United Nations Security Council will approve the resolution regarding Gaza, which has previously been vetoed several times by the United States.
