Reconstruction of 25 kilometers of Kabul-Bamyan highway begins at cost of 570 million Afghanis

KABUL: The reconstruction of 25 kilometers of the Kabul-Bamyan highway in the Maidan Wardak province has officially commenced, during a ceremony attended by Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa, the governor of the province, and some other officials.
The press office of the Maidan Wardak governor stated yesterday that the project involves the reconstruction of the highway section from Maidan Shar, the provincial capital, to the Jalrez district, which forms part of the Kabul-Bamyan route.
Mawlavi Abdulkarim Fateh, the technical deputy of the Ministry of Public Works, stated during the project’s inauguration that the road is a significant part of the trade corridor between Kabul and Herat, and its reconstruction is being undertaken based on the directives of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate.
The governor of Maidan Wardak expressed his satisfaction with the commencement of the road work, urging the contracting company to execute the project according to the specified design and plans.
The reconstruction of the Kabul-Bamyan highway is expected to be completed and operational within the next 15 months.
The Ministry of Public Works continues its comprehensive efforts to reconstruct the country’s highways.
