KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has approved the sale of American F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia.
Reuters reported on Monday night, that President Trump announced the approval of 48 F-35 jets for Saudi Arabia just hours before his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia at the White House.
Trump told reporters in his office, “I have to say we will do this. We will sell F-35s.”
The Saudi Crown Prince, who is visiting the U.S., is set to meet with Trump today at the White House.
The announcement of the F-35 sales to Saudi Arabia is seen as a significant shift in U.S. policy regarding the Middle East, particularly as it alters the military balance of power near the Israeli regime, a close ally of Washington.
