Indian Medicine Export Council interested in expanding cooperation and increasing medicine exports to Afghanistan

KABUL: The Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said in a statement today that members of the Indian Medicine Export Development Council, during a meeting with Nooruddin Azizi, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, expressed their interest in expanding cooperation and exporting medicines to Afghanistan.
In the statement, the ministry highlighted that the council members also expressed readiness to invest in Afghanistan and establish medicine manufacturing plants in the country.
The statement mentioned that the Minister of Industry and Commerce provided necessary clarifications regarding the questions, concerns, and suggestions from the council members, reaffirming the Islamic Emirate’s support for reputable pharmaceutical companies.
During the meeting, it was agreed that Afghan officials and stakeholders in the medicine sector would visit major pharmaceutical production facilities in India.
Additionally, a delegation from the Indian medicine sector will travel to Kabul to explore investment opportunities and enhance exports.
The Indian Medicine Export Development Council is among the largest active councils in this sector, comprising 57 global companies.
This comes as per the directive of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs’ Office, stating that medicine exports to Afghanistan from Pakistan are set to be halted within the next three months.
