KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, has accepted the credentials of Mirdef Al-Qashouti, Qatar’s newly appointed ambassador to Kabul.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a statement today that the Foreign Minister wished the new Qatari ambassador success and expressed hope that both countries would effectively utilize existing opportunities to strengthen their relations.
He described the relationship between Kabul and Doha as historic and emphasized the importance of expanding trade sectors and increasing job opportunities for Afghans.
Meanwhile, the Qatari ambassador has committed to working towards better development of relations between Kabul and Doha.
The statement noted that Mirdef Al-Qashouti also emphasized that his country will continue its mediation policy and strive to bridge the views of Afghanistan and the international community.
It is worth mentioning that before being appointed as ambassador, he served as the chargé d’affaires at the Qatari embassy in Kabul.
