Putin travels to Kyrgyzstan to participate in CSTO summit

KABUL: Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the invitation of the President of Kyrgyzstan will leave today for a three-day visit to Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia.

According to the Russian state-run TASS news agency, President Putin will stay in Kyrgyzstan from November 25 to 27, during which he will hold bilateral meetings with officials from the host country and participate in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit.

The main day of travel for President Putin will be Wednesday, when the two leaders will discuss key issues related to bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and humanitarian fields, among others.

Following the talks, Putin and President Japarov are expected to issue a statement on enhancing cooperation between their countries and sign a package of documents.

It is also anticipated that Putin will meet with his Belarusian counterpart during his time in Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday.

The Russian President’s participation in the CSTO summit will take place on the last day of his visit (Thursday).

The CSTO is a military and security organization comprising Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Armenia.
