KABUL: António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, has stressed the need to end the occupation of Palestinian territories by the Israeli regime.
In a message issued today on the occasion of the “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People,” Guterres stated that the Palestinian people have the right to live “with dignity, justice, and autonomy.” He added that the rights of Palestinians have been violated beyond comprehension over the past two years.
Guterres reiterated his call for irreversible progress towards a two-state solution, where Israel and Palestine coexist peacefully and securely.
Established by a 1977 resolution of the UN General Assembly, November 29 is recognized as the “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.”
This day aims to garner global support for the Palestinian people’s rights to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.
