Ishaq Dar: Tehran proposes multilateral talks to improve Kabul-Islamabad relations

KABUL: Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, recently stated that his Iranian counterpart has suggested a multilateral dialogue to enhance relations between Kabul and Islamabad.
The Express Tribune reported on Saturday night that the Pakistani Foreign Minister said that representatives from Iran, Qatar, Turkey, and Russia would also participate in the proposed multilateral dialogue, alongside those from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
However, he did not provide details regarding Pakistan’s response to this proposal or the timing of the meeting.
Furthermore, Ishaq Dar added that the United Nations has requested Islamabad to reopen the border crossings with Afghanistan along the Durand Line.
In a press conference, he stated, “I have spoken with the Chief of Army Staff and will soon talk with the Prime Minister. We will soon allow the resumption of humanitarian aid and the delivery of food supplies.”
According to him, Islamabad has made significant and sincere efforts to improve relations with Kabul. This comes at a time when ties between Kabul and Islamabad have been unusually strained for approximately two months.
